Systemic agents that can be efficient embody antimalarials, dapsone1, methotrexate1, mycophenolate mofetil (CellCept)1, and thalidomide (Thalomid)1. Mycophenolate mofetil is used at a dose of 1 gram twice every day, and methotrexate is used at doses of seven. End-stage cicatricial alopecia is greatest treated by scalp reduction and hair transplantation.
